The Fishermen scored three touchdowns in the first quarter of a 42 to 7 win. League play opens Friday night at home.

Gloucester's football team left no doubt at Revere last Friday.

The Fishermen beat the Patriots 42 to 7 on Sept. 25 in Revere. The win lifted Gloucester to 2 and 1 and bounced it back from a 20 to 16 loss at St. Mary's of Lynn a week earlier.

The game was over early. Gloucester led 21 to 0 about eight minutes in and 35 to 0 at halftime. Revere fumbled three times, and Gloucester turned those turnovers into points, according to The Gillnetter, the Gloucester High student newspaper.

Senior quarterback Cole Mosley-Wynn ran for touchdowns of 4 and 14 yards in the first quarter. The first came after a 44 yard run by senior Tanner Smith. Senior Nico Alves ran for two scores, the first from 3 yards out, and freshman Fode Kaba scored his first touchdown of the season before halftime. In the third quarter, Mosley-Wynn threw a 12 yard touchdown pass to senior captain Max Thomas.

Revere's only points came on a 95 yard touchdown run on the last play of the game.

The Gillnetter's game story was written by Mosley-Wynn, who covers the team for the student paper.

The Boston Herald named Mosley-Wynn and Alves among its high school football stars of the week. The Herald credited Mosley-Wynn with nine tackles and Alves with 13.

What it means
