Rockport's Harvest Fest returns Saturday, Oct. 17, and home bakers can sign up now for the apple pie bake-off.

The free festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. across Harvey Park, Barletta Park and Dock Square, according to the festival page run by the Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce. Plans include live music, local vendors and artisans, a beer garden, seasonal food and family activities such as face painting and a live animal exhibit. A festival listing on Patch names the bands Headlands and Corey Wrinn Music, with beer from Rockport Brewing Co.

The bake-off

Pies will be judged from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. in Dock Square. Entries are made through an online form on the festival page, where the contest rules are posted. Questions go to [email protected].
